27 Jan Setup/Programmer for 5-Axis Routers
Full Job Description
Come join our well- established company, conveniently located near the 405 and 22 freeway in Westminster, CA., We offer a fun, casual dress work environment. This is a full-time position working Monday-Thursday on the morning shift with occasional overtime.
We are custom plastic thermoformers. A major part of our business is aerospace. Our Heavy Gauge department makes all sorts of aircraft cabin interior parts which are thermoformed and require 5-Axis CNC Router trimming to cut the parts out and finish trim. We are 100% 3D solid model based and do not do any of the part trimming by hand. All parts are trimmed on one of our (7) CNC 5-Axis Router Mills.
The ideal candidate would be a 5-Axis Programmer who has similar experience programming trim cutting paths and setting up CNC 5-Axis Router trim fixtures and trimming projects. The software package that we use here is MasterCAM. I cannot emphasize the “experience” factor enough. We need a candidate who has done this sort of thing before and can, literally, hit the ground running. This job is very mobile and will allow the individual to have the run of the department to make things happen. We have very good teams in place both on the shop floor and in management. This person will be their own boss and will be provided everything needed to get the job done.
The ideal candidate would have experience with everything involved in taking a 3D computer model, using it to program finished part cutting paths, setting up and final prep of trimming fixtures, and following through with making FAI (First Article Inspection) parts for approval.
We have (7) CNC 5-Axis Router Mills. (2) each DMS & Motion Master with Fagor controls. And (3) Thermwood routers (which have the standard Thermwood control)
We also have a Faro Arm (portable CMM) that we use for orientation and setup of trimming fixtures and checking trim cuts. So, experience using a CMM would be a big plus. We currently have (2) programmers who handle these duties, and we need to augment our staff to increase production. So, actual experience doing the programming and setups is a must and the individual needs to be able to work independently once they’ve been acclimated to our routines and equipment. This can develop into a department supervisory role for the right candidate as the other two programmers have their responsibilities split between programming, design, and assembly supervision.
